Landscape Variation Due to the Dynamics of Sediment Transport in the Lumbaqui River, Ecuador
Main Article Content
Abstract
Global urban expansion poses significant challenges, especially in riparian areas like the Lumbaqui River, where urbanization causes considerable degradation. Intense precipitation exacerbates erosion and sediment transport, leading to widespread environmental and landscape issues. This research aims to deepen understanding of the risks associated with sediment transport in the Lumbaqui River, and the environmental impacts resulting from poor soil management in water-sensitive areas. Despite being a popular recreational destination due to its water quality, sediment accumulation affects its scenic appeal and may reduce visitor influx, altering the local ecosystem and biodiversity.
