The study of the earth pursues an understanding of the evolution of the planet from earliest times to the present day, through the study of rocks and supported by the principles of physics and chemistry, as well as biology and other sciences.
Geological research provides information for the search, exploitation and management of natural resources necessary for human development. Geology provides information needed to analyse the impact and feasibility of many human activities, for example, for water and soil conservation and management. It also helps to understand the processes that cause natural disasters such as landslides.
The second issue of the year 2023 of the Scientific Journal GeoLatitud, presents to the scientific and academic community and actors in the geological and energy sector, an outstanding compilation of articles that contribute to the strengthening of the study of earth sciences in Ecuador and the Region.
GeoLatitud is published by the Institute of Geological and Energy Research, with biannual editions focused on Geology, Energy, Geotechnics, Mining, Metallurgy and Environment.
We invite the academic and scientific community and those linked to the sector to participate through this medium in the scientific dissemination of their research, with the common and sole purpose of promoting the development of Earth Sciences and Energy.
