The Scientific Journal GeoLatitud, in its first issue of 2021, puts for the consideration of the scientific, academic community and actors of the geological, mining, and metallurgical sector, an outstanding selection of articles that contribute to the strengthening of the study areas in Ecuador and the region.
This new issue presents four scientific articles that address the following topics: Geological prospective; Identification of geochemical anomalies in heavy mineral concentrates and fine elements deposited in rivers; Lithostratigraphy and petrography in the Condor mountain range; and, Evolution of alluvial fans with the use of stratigraphic record.
In the article "Prospectivity of the pre-Aptian in the north-central part of the Sacha-Shushufindi corridor (CSS), based on seismic sections and well information", he addresses an investigation focused on the study of pre-Aptian sequences and their potential oil system, in Blocks 64 and 65, located within the Sacha Shushufindi Corridor (CSS) of the Oriente Basin.
The second article called "Identification of Geochemical Anomalies of Fe, Ti, Cr, Nb and Zr in Heavy Mineral Concentrates and Fine Sediments Through the Use of Geochemical Maps in the Orinoco Mining Arc, Venezuela" deals with the Orinoco Mining Arc, located in the north of Bolívar state, Venezuela, where a geochemical prospecting study was carried out through statistical and spatial analysis of the concentrations of chemical elements in heavy mineral concentrates and fine sediments deposited in rivers.
The third article "Lithostratigraphy, petrography and geochemistry of the Pachicutza unit in the Cordillera del Cóndor", presents a lithostratigraphic, petrological, and geochemical characterization of the Pachicutza Unit in the upper basin of the Nangaritza river, in the Pachicutza creek.
The fourth article entitled "The evolution of alluvial fans documented in the stratigraphic record of the Tiyuyacu Formation", has the objective of defining the sedimentation environment of the Tiyuyacu Formation (Paleocene-Eocene), presents a lithostratigraphic, petrographic characterization and provenance analysis in heavy minerals, in a mega-outcrop located on the highway that connects the towns of Santiago de Tiwintza and Puerto Morona, in the sector called “Mirador la Virgen”, south-east of the Front Andean Naps.
GeoLatitud is an annual scientific magazine, with semester editions, focused on Geology, Mining, and Metallurgy topics. We invite the academic, scientific, and sector-related community to share, through this medium, their research, with the common and sole purpose of promoting the development of Earth Sciences.
