The present issue of GeoLatitud, cientific maganize edited by El Instituto de Investigación Geológico y Energético (IIGE), presents texts about geology and mining to the scientific and academic community. The articles from several parts of the country refers to specific studies about the south east of Ecuador, it also includes studies of the advanced explotation phase in mining.

 In the Geology field, we present 5 articles about geomorphology, lithology, stratigraphy, petroleum engineering and geophysics.

 In Mining, we present relevant issues for the development of a large scale mining project in Ecuador and the importance of natural resources in Latin America.

GEOLATITUD, is a scientific journal of annual publication with themes of Geology, Mining and Metallurgy. We invite the academic, scientific and related community to share their research experiences with the common and unique purpose of giving impetus to the development of Earth Sciences.
